The complication is that the region has two climates in one year, and the equipment people use in the dry half behaves very differently in the wet half.
Evaporative coolers and the monsoon
An evaporative cooler — a swamp cooler — cools by evaporating water into the airstream, which means it deliberately raises indoor humidity, often to 50–60%. In April that is a pleasant side effect that solves your dry-air problem for free. During the monsoon it becomes the problem: outdoor humidity climbs, evaporative cooling loses most of its effect, and the machine is adding moisture to air that is already carrying plenty.
This is why homes here often switch between evaporative cooling and refrigerated air across the season, and why a house that felt perfect in May can feel clammy and smell musty in August.
The other regional detail is the building stock. Slab-on-grade construction with no basement removes the coldest surfaces from the equation, so condensation and mold are genuinely rarer here than almost anywhere else — right up until a plumbing leak under a slab, which is the region's characteristic hidden moisture problem.
