Questions about your own house

We read everything, but we cannot diagnose a specific property by email — damp problems need someone who can see the wall, the outside of the building and the weather history. What we can do is point you to the right category of cause, which is usually the part people get stuck on.

If you write in, the useful details are: the hygrometer reading and room temperature, whether the patch has a defined edge, whether it changes after rain, and how high up the wall it sits.
